Product Description
Written by one of the world’s leading authorities on Belgian breeds, a renowned international judge, Dr. Robert Pollet, this Special Limited Edition dedicated to the Belgian Malinois offers an enlightening look at the history, working abilities and character of this remarkable herding dog. Few breeds boast the versatility of the Belgian Malinois: a shepherd’s dog, a working guard dog, a top competition dog, a police and military dog, a search and rescue dog, a companion, a show dog…the roles and talents of this breed are fairly limitless. For the right owners, this highly accomplished and trainable dog makes a most rewarding canine companion and performance dog. The author, a Belgian native, has been judging the Belgian Malinois for over thirty years and remains an ardent promoter of all Belgian breeds. Readers will welcome Dr. Pollet’s insightful look at the breed’s history in Europe and the United States as well as his thorough examination of the breed’s characteristics, breed standard and owning and training requirements. Additionally this volume offers reliable information for new owners seeking to purchase a well-bred Malinois puppy, illustrated with over 130 color photographs that readers will find informative and attractive. The complete care and training of the breed are discussed as well as proper management of the Malinois’s health, in an excellent chapter by veterinarian and author Dr. Lowell Ackerman.

This book is great! It has everything, is informative and has more pics than I thought it would.

4 out of 5 stars BELGIAN MALINOIS   February 17, 2010
Sidney P. Pond (MOUNDSVILLE, WV, USA)
THIS BOOK WAS VERY INFORMATIVE FOR THE BASIC ON THE BREED. WE ARE NEW T0 THIS BREED BUT HAVE HAD LABADORS FOR YEARS. EVEN THIS BOOK DOES NOT DETAIL THE VAST DIFFERENCES BETWEEN OTHER BREEDS AND THE MALINOIS. NOT A FIRST TIME OWNER BREED FOR SURE.

5 out of 5 stars Must have book!   February 15, 2008

If your just doing your homework before owning your first Malinois or you already own one. This is a must own book! Not to mention there are very few books avaliable on this wonderfull breed.

5 out of 5 stars Great Book   January 14, 2008

Very informative for those beginning with Mals. Of course you can find the information in this book all over the web, but it is a must have for your library if you own a Mal.

2 out of 5 stars Sort of generic public domain rehash   September 27, 2007

This book is dull and has nothing not publicly available (with the exception of the photos of cute puppies circa mid 80's) elsewhere. Would not recommend. It says very little about understanding the breed. I have owned and trained four Mals for the police force.
